About Us: The Story Behind Safari Bites

A 9-Year-Old With a Big Idea (And a Slightly Sleep-Deprived Mom Who Said Yes)

Hi, I’m Madhav Somani. I’m 9 years old, I love food, and one day, I woke up and said, “Mom, I want to start a business.”

Now, most moms would probably say something like, “That’s nice, sweetie,” and send me off to do my homework. But my mom? She actually listened. (Which, honestly, was both exciting and slightly terrifying.)

So, we started brainstorming.

Then, we landed on something that made perfect sense. What if food wasn’t just something we ate? What if it was an adventure? A way to explore the world, understand different cultures, and learn how to stay healthy—all while having fun?

That’s how Safari Bites was born.

Our Mission: More Than Just Snacks (But Also, Snacks Are Pretty Great)

We believe food is kind of magical. It has the power to:
Fuel Our Bodies

Because food is energy, and we all need a little extra power to run, jump, and (reluctantly) do math homework.

Teach Us Stories

Every bite has history. Every meal has a culture. (Yes, even your peanut butter sandwich.)

Bring Us Together

Food is kindness. It’s sharing. It’s about community. (Also, snacks taste better when you share them. Science probably proves this.)

At Safari Bites, our goal is to inspire kids to:

Also, 5% of every class fee goes to the KGS Foundation, which helps provide food and education for families in need. Because food isn’t just about eating—it’s about giving back.

The Role of Dimple: A Mother’s Perspective

Hi, I’m Dimple Patel, aka Madhav’s mom, #1 fan, and unpaid assistant.

When Madhav came up with this idea, I could have just smiled, nodded, and waited for him to forget about it. (Spoiler: He didn’t forget about it.) Instead, I did what any mom with an entrepreneurial child would do—I jumped in, full speed ahead.

Now, here’s the thing about starting a business with a 9-year-old: He has all the ideas. I handle everything else.
Right now, Safari Bites is my responsibility (because legally, I don’t think 9-year-olds can own businesses). But the plan? It’s 100% his when he turns 18. Because this isn’t just about food. It’s about teaching my son that dreams—no matter how big or small—are worth chasing.

But Wait… What Exactly Is Safari Bites?

Great question. Here’s the short version:

It’s an after-school cooking adventure where kids explore global cuisines, make easy (but delicious) recipes, and discover the science behind food.
It’s a way to introduce kids to the world—without needing a passport.
It’s a mission to make food fun, educational, and meaningful—because kids should know where their meals come from (and maybe stop calling all green foods “yucky”).
It’s Madhav’s vision for a future where food is more than just something you eat—it’s an experience.

And right now, we’re just getting started.

So, What’s Next?

Right now, Safari Bites is starting small—after-school cooking classes in Colorado and South Carolina. But let’s be real:

Madhav has big dreams.

He wants to launch Safari Bites vending machines, stocked with snacks inspired by different cultures.
He wants to run a food truck, where kids can grab healthy, globally-inspired treats on the go.
He wants to create a line of cookies—because if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that cookies are amazing.
He even wants to bring Safari Bites to birthday parties, school events, and beyond—because food is always more fun when it’s shared.

And you know what? We’re going to make it happen.
Because if a 9-year-old can come up with this idea, what’s stopping us from making it real?
So, whether you’re here to sign up for a class, cheer us on, or just see what kind of snacks Madhav dreams up next…
Welcome to the adventure.

Welcome to Safari Bites.
Let’s get cooking.
